Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless a valid legal duty requires disclosure to someone else.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring site, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and our analytics services help combine traffic information, including which pages are used most and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies how Chester County records may be requested from the Sheriff's Office, local courts, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry. S.C. Code §23-3-115 governs SLED dissemination and bars bulk sale or dissemination of its database while allowing individual criminal-history sales. That state framework does not make this site a repository. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the selected provider's privacy policy, data-retention rules, and sharing practices, not this policy. Read those terms before sending a query because we do not control them.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Chester County Sheriff's Office, court portals, South Carolina agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search tools. Once you leave, the destination's policy controls its handling of information. Review that policy before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select targeted ads. That process occurs within their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Outside search providers that process submitted queries
- Advertising networks that serve content on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used for information we collect, but no internet system is completely secure. We work to protect the data and cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. The South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, concerns access to public-agency records and does not convert this private site into a public body. S.C. Code §23-3-115 separately limits dissemination of SLED's criminal-history database. Subject to the law that applies, you may:
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Opt out of processing where the governing law provides that choice
