Questions about official Chester County criminal records belong with the public office that created or keeps the document. The contacts below route court files to the Clerk, custody questions to Chester Detention, sheriff material to the Sheriff's Office, and written public-record requests to the documented county channel.

This Is Not a Government Office. This private reference site cannot retrieve criminal records, perform official background checks, correct or remove records, or receive expungement papers. Only the responsible government office can handle those tasks.

Need an Official Record?

Use these official Chester County and South Carolina routes:

  • General Sessions case files: contact the Chester County Clerk of Court, 140 Main Street, Chester, SC 29706, 803-385-2605, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Arrest and sheriff records: contact the Chester County Sheriff's Office, 2740 Dawson Drive, Chester, SC 29706, 803-581-5131; non-emergency line 803-385-5433
  • Current county custody: call Chester County Detention at 803-581-2602 or 803-385-2606; administrative hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays
  • South Carolina criminal histories: use the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's SLED CATCH service
  • Police incident reports: ask the Sheriff or city police department that created the report
  • County FOIA requests: mail or deliver the county form to the Office of County Administrator, P.O. Drawer 580, Chester, SC 29706; 803-377-1021

The Clerk supplies court-file copies but does not perform compiled background checks. The Sheriff's site does not identify a separate records-division counter, so call the Sheriff's Office first and use the county's formal FOIA process when staff directs a written request.
